To the Clinicians
Having worked with hundreds of clinicians and thousands of sex addicts and their partners over the years, the staff at Blue Tiger Recovery understands that sex and relationship problems are difficult, uncomfortable and require a high degree of confidentiality. We appreciate your trust.
The Blue Tiger Recovery staff have excellent reputations as premier sex addiction treatment providers. We have accomplished this through many years of helping turn despair, shame and secrecy into hope, intimacy and recovery. We have done this for others and we can do it for your clients as well.
We are eager to help you and your clients and we are always ready to offer hope and encouragement to everyone who contacts us. If you have provided us with your phone number then we will attempt to follow up with you by phone as soon as possible.
TREATMENT FOR SEX ADDICTION
The Blue Tiger Recovery Sexual Addiction Treatment Programs primarily utilize an eclectic approach to treatment based on current empirically based research and theory on sexual addiction and sexual offender problems. This therapy includes a focus using your thinking and behavior, as a way to address the underlying emotional and psychological concerns that contribute to sexual acting out. The program incorporates individual and group therapies, along with relapse prevention work. The treatment techniques, approaches and/or modalities used may include but are not limited to: Mindfulness Exercises, Body Awareness Trauma Work (Somatic Experiencing), Relapse Prevention Work, Therapeutic Art, Attachment Theory, Family Systems, Cognitive Restructuring Exercises and Tasks, Object Relations, Psychodynamic, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gestalt, Voice Dialogue, Existential, Resource Tapping Techniques, Communication Building and Trauma Analysis. Blue Tiger Recovery uses The Trauma Model Approach when working with spouses and partners.
INTENSIVE SEX ADDICTION BOOT CAMP TREATMENT PROGRAM
The Blue Tiger Two-Week Intensive Sex Addiction Boot Camp Program is designed as an alternative to traditional residential programs. It is thorough, but considerably less expensive and less time consuming than a traditional residential or hospital based program. Our belief, supported by years of experience, is that many sex addicts do not require extended time in a controlled environment. Although technically, our level of care is a Partial Hospitalization Program, we provide safe and secure housing for our clients while they are in treatment so the experience is more similar to that of a full residential program. The group living experience provides safety, group bonding and structure, all of which enhance the therapeutic experience. In this way we are able to provide many of the benefits of in-patient treatment, but in a less restrictive environment.
Supports for spouses and partners are also an important part of our treatment process whenever possible. Ask our intake department for a spouse’s information packet for additional details.
WHAT IS THE INTENSIVE PROGRAM SCHEDULE?
Monday through Friday from approximately 10:00 am to 5:00 pm our clients are engaged in intensive education, individual and group treatment. Much of our therapy is task oriented, so the evenings are spent completing assignments and processing the day’s work with the other clients. Saturday is a reduced schedule, therapy for half the day, and then a group activity or outing. Sundays are less structured. Clients go to church, go to 12 step meetings, exercise and find other healthy ways to relax before the hard work begins again on Monday morning. Many clients will spend part of Sunday catching up on homework assignments. We carefully monitor evening and weekend time to keep our clients accountable. Although our clients are free to use their cell phones and computers when necessary, we encourage a focus on the work and discourage outside distractions.
We schedule the Intensive Boot Camp Programs approximately once a month.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
Please contact our Admissions Department @ 760-534-3487 for pricing and insurance coverage questions.
For clients that are in a relationship, there is an optional, additional two-day, (Friday and Saturday), Couples Workshop at the end of each Boot Camp Program as well.

A couple of good basic texts on sex addiction are, “Out of the Shadows” or “Don’t Call It Love”, by Patrick Carnes. Some good books for partners of sex addicts are, “Mending a Shattered Heart“, by Stephanie Carnes and, “Your Sexually Addicted Spouse”, by Barbara Steffens and Marsha Means. A good book to read about sex addiction and use of the internet is, “Untangling the Web”, Robert Weiss and Jennifer Schneider. “Cruise Control”, by Robert Weiss, is a great book about gay sex addiction. Both of these books can be found here: http://www.gentlepath.com/home.php?cat=17.
